It wasn’t a question but a statement that announced Olympia College’s demonstrable commitment to the local community in Malaysia when the Prime Minister made the above remark when visiting Olympia’s Penang Campus promotional booth at the Education Fair in Kepala Batas early this year. In the Northern region of Malaysia – most of the local industries works closely with Olympia College in the recruitment and placement of its students. Olympia’s School of Hotel Management prides itself of having most of its graduates employed even before they graduate. Yes, all of Olympia’s qualifications are industry driven. The college curriculum sets offered through its campuses are designed to meet the Human Resource needs of that specific region. Individuals teaching the programme are also experts in their respective field. Some of Olympia’s faculty members include CEO’s and General Managers of established companies in Penang and the mainland. They bring their problems they face and the manner these are resolved hence encouraging real time learning with real time issues. A major group of Olympia’s current students are sponsored by some of the industries in Penang and, these students bring to the college their work related problems where the college through its up to date curriculum attempts the various solutions. “It is a pride to be a college of relevance to the demands of the skill sets required by industries today “ said Johnson Mathew Joseph, the Penang campus Principal. “In order to address the industry needs and demands for knowledgeable and high performing new workforce, Olympia College employs highly experienced professionals from the industry eager to contribute to the formation and training of students with the vision of future achievements” added Johnson.
