OLYMPIA’S PJ CAMPUS FASHION STUDENTS UNLEASHES CREATIVITY

Internationalism was clearly at the forefront of a recent alumni night and prêt-a-porter fashion show. With talents from Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, the cultural diversity was united in fashion style.

The students  of Olympia College, Petaling Jaya campus, completing their  Higher National Diploma in Fashion & Textiles and Certificate in Fashion Management programmes, pulled off a dazzling and glittering fashion show to amaze over 100 guest at Museum Alam Shah hall in Shah Alam on 19 October 2008.

The fashion show themed “prêt-a-porter” was the final showcase of 11 young designers, soon to graduate. The event started with evening gown category which consists of 8 designs, followed by 6 funky style designs and 8 designs of cocktail dresses.

The show was in conjunction OCPJ Alumni Club launch, and the highlight of the launch was the fashion show, which featured creative and up-to-date, glamorous design and performances.

The models sashayed down the runway in all sorts of dazzling outfits with frenzy of camera flashes.
These young designers used every ounce of their imagination and creativity to put together their masterpiece. From satin to silk, pearls to beads, were used to project the very inspired and unique outfits.

The anchor of Fashion Design Department, Mr Hosny Hashim was clearly overjoyed: “I am very proud that at this very first on-stage show, the students has used their creativity and managed to put up a superb fashion show, thus projecting their capabilities. I am also thankful to the events organizing team that  has made this event successful.”

The Director of Operations, Mr A.V Rao said “the student passion towards art will lead them to a successful career. The hands-on skills will be very much valued in the industry, making it easier for the students to get employed. Such event congruently matches with Olympia College motto, “Employer’s Choice”.
