EARTH HOUR AT OLYMPIA COLLEGE

The lights in Olympia College, Ipoh campus was switched off for an hour from 8.30 – 9.30pm on 28 March ’09 to signify its commitment in the fight against climate change.
Olympia College, Ipoh campus is a proud supporter of Earth Hour 2009 campaign. Olympia College has joined millions of world citizens on 28 March ’09 to observe the World Wide Fund for Nature’s Earth Hours in its stand against global warming.

While the Earth Hour initiative has gained a lot of support from major organizations all over the country, Olympia College, Ipoh, is possibly one of the very few organizations in Ipoh who has switched off on 28 March ’09.

To celebrate Earth Hour 2009, Olympia College, Ipoh campus has also offered to all participants who registered for any course between 8:30 to 9:30 pm a RM 200 discount on fees, on top of other existing promotions. The college has also pledged to plant a tree in the student’s name at an upcoming ‘ECO-Project’ to be held later in the year.
Olympia College Ipoh campus’ management has also pledged ten trees to be planted at the same event.

Ms Cindy Chong Evans, the Principal of the Ipoh campus said “Olympia College, Ipoh has been a strong supporter of the green movement. As a college, it has a commitment to educate young minds not only about marketing, economics, IT or hotel management, but also how each of us can do their bit to raise environmental awarness on the need for energy saving among its staff and students and to uphold each individual’s social responsibility.”

“All Malaysians should support the initiative by switching off the lights in their homes or offices at the given hour and Olympia College, as a caring corporate citizen want to send a message that we are serious about saving Mother Earth.” she added.
