BBQ @ OCKL
On 19 August 2009, a selected number of students from the Business School at Olympia College, Kuala Lumpur had organized a BBQ Party within the college premises. This event was the brain child of the students, who wanted to do something different to showcase their talents in cooking over a charcoaled grill.
The event was supported by various faculty members who belonged to the Business School. There were many delicious dishes served from lamb to cocktail sausages, chicken as well as salads and all the condiments to a proper BBQ Party. Lecturers namely Ms. Anne Wang, Ms Justina Narin, Ms Nadia as well as Ms Vishali (School Coordinator) had supported the students and helped them to organize the event. Various students on the Diploma in Business Management programme namely Ms Aysegul, Ms Salbiah, Ms Natashya, Mr Kelvin, Mr Beng, Mr Herawan, Mr Malik among others toiled over the flame to prepare the food.
The Centre Principal, Mr Brian Param said, “It is a refreshing change to see something like this planned and it was good to see students working hand in hand with staff and faculty to bring such an event to reality. Ms Anne, who teaches Accounting and Finance, said “we aim to support our students whenever possible and when this idea was mooted by the students, we as faculty aimed to guide and help them through the event”.
The entire event was considered to be a success and all who attended had a great time savouring the food. Ms Aysegul, a student said “Mr Hanafiah, our Lab Tutor helped and guided us in preparing the grill and marinating the meat”. “We were told that he is a master when it comes to BBQs, and one of the traits that we learnt at Olympia College is team work and collaboration to achieve success.
Ms Justina and Ms Nadia added “We are proud of our students as they have actually planned and carried out the BBQ Party well”. They managed to utilize their strengths and sought advice and guidance in areas which they were unsure. All in all, the entire BBQ Party was a fun one and all had thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had fond memories of the BBQ.
