PARENTS’ DAY AT OLYMPIA COLLEGE, JB CAMPUS
Olympia College Johor Bahru campus had recently organized the Parent’s Day with an objective to provide face-to-face discussions with the parents on the College’s latest developments as well as the progress of its students. There were more than 50 families who attended the event.
Mr Low Jiun Jack, the Principal of Olympia College, Johor Bahru campus said “Parents' Day provides an opportunity for the parents to come to our JB campus to interact with the faculty and staff in a variety of ways.”
“At Olympia, we would also like get to know the parents better and also get their feedback and listen to their concerns. It is an occasion to foster a good relationship with the parents. It is a chance to create a positive tradition based on a core axiom –that the role of parents is crucial in the nurturing and development of their children, and thus requires investment, focus and commitment.”
“We will definitely organize more projects that will involve parents, students and staff so that better relationships will be fostered.” he added.
To promote academic excellence, Olympia College, Johor Bahru campus had introduced a series of awards to its students.
Certificates of Achievement (Highest mark) were presented to 31 students who scored the highest mark among all candidates for the December 2009 exam results.
Three students received the Certificate of Achievement: Principal’s List. These students scored the highest mark among all candidates in all subjects for the December 2009 exam results.
The College also introduced “The Principal’s Award” – This Award will be presented to students who are successfully listed in the Principal’s list from their first semester until their graduating semester. This award was introduced to motivate high achievers to strive for better recognition.
In addition to the academic recognition, testimonials were also given to recognize students’ participation in the college’s business activities as well as for organizing students’ projects. Moreover, Certificate of Participation were also given for students’ projects that were successfully carried out.
Olympia’s Academic Consultant, Dr. Raja Mohan reported on the common academic weaknesses among students as well as the general progress of the students.
The Secretarial students also arranged for a food sale on the day and the college sponsored drinks to support the students’ activity. The parents and staff supported the students and most of the food were sold out before the Parent’s Day ended.
The Parent’s Day was very fruitful for the parents and some parents expressed their confidence and gratitude for the college’s improvements. The college too received some suggestions that will bring the college better results.
