World of Food and Fun at Olympia College
The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students of Olympia College, Kuala Lumpur campus had recently organized the International Food Festival. Many students came together to celebrate the unity in diversity. Flavoured by a melting pot of nationalities, the International Food Festival featured a sumptuous spread of great food and the students had great fun exploring delicacies from the most exotic countries around the world.
The key focus of this event was to introduce international cuisine to everyone and also to raise effective interaction among ESOL students. Every student contributed a dish from their own country. Students were also encouraged to dress in their international outfit.
All the students participated enthusiastically and they enjoyed the event. This was a great opportunity to sample some popular cuisines of other countries. The International Food Festival event offered an insight into food from Malaysia, Korea, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka and Middle Eastern Countries.
It was a whole new experience for some of the students as this is the first time they are trying food from other countries and many of them even further to enquire about the recipes.
We also had best outfit competition and the winner was Nguyen Thi Loan from Vietnam and Soong from Korea. Everyone tucked in for a sumptuous hearty food. Their faces were glowing with happiness and joy. Our special guests were our Principal, Mr Brian and Ms Sharon.
The ESOL students were grateful to everyone who helped to make this extraordinary event happen. Everyone had contributed and worked together to achieve a common goal. Special thanks goes to Ms Sulochana, Ms Defani, Ms Rashidah and Mr David for their incredible energy and their fantastic ability to simply make things happen.
The students also learnt the culture of other students and this event created an opportunity for them to socialise with one another and to foster good relationship.
