The School of Language Studies specializes in the teaching of English As A Second Language (ESL) to various levels of students, both local and international coming from all walks of life.
Predominantly, the focus is on pre-tertiary education students, who registers for this programme with intentions to lay a strong foundation for their pursuit of post secondary education.
The teaching methodology adapted to the modular teaching system has varied features like role plays, audio visual support, interactive communication, discussions, computer aided lessons and other facilities to make the teaching of English Language filled with fun, stimulating and active participation from students.

ESL (English As A Second Language)


Olympia College offers ESL (English As A Second Language) at 3 levels: Basic , Intermediate and Advanced. The programme equips students with listening, reading, speaking, writing, grammar and interactive communication skills. The 3 months programme will lay the foundation for the mastery of the English Language and facilitate students to pursue their tertiary education with confidence.

Programme features:

  • Up to 20 hours of instruction per week
  • Maximum class size is 20
  • Integrated approach covering 5 components : listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar
  • Self-access multimedia lab with free internet and email facilities
  • A dedicated and qualified team of lecturers with dynamic and systematic approaches to teaching
  • Regular progress tests for student evaluation
  • Up-to-date library resources and references including access to the internet
  • Study related activities including fields trips, educational visits and membership to college societies  (where applicable)
  • Individual attention and special guidance for weak students
  • Pastoral care and student counseling (International Students Club)

Holiday study programme
School Groups can improve their English and experience a custom designed Olympia holiday-study programme. This programme features English classes in the mornings and recreational activities in the afternoons.

Adult English Programme (AEP)
The AEP is meant for working adults who need to improve their English in working environment for a better communication, personal growth and career advancement.
