Olympia's School of Language Studies is an independent school within Olympia College. Since 1971, Olympia's School of Language Studies has helped adults from all over the world in learning English. Some want a better job, others want to conduct international businesses, yet others need to prepare for higher education. Quite a few come to Olympia College simply to experience and enjoy studying in Malaysia.
The school's unique modular approach incorporating all 10 language components systematically designed and graded course materials have made this programme exceptional, intensive and very successful.
The teaching methodology adapted to the modular teaching system has varied features like role-plays, audio-visual support, interactive communication, discussions, computer aided lessons and other facilities to make the teaching of English language filled with fun, stimulating and active participation from students.
You will enjoy a spectacular experience in any one of Olympia's campuses. Facilities available include a self-study centre with English language lab, computer workstations with internet and e-mail services, libraries, students' lounge and, in some campuses, a cafeteria. |
| Introduction |
The 10 modules of the English As A Second Language (ESL) programme have been carefully graded and designed coherently in a very systematic manner, to enhance the mastering of the language effectively. The three months programme will lay the foundation for the mastery of the English Language and facilitate students to pursue their tertiary education with confidence.
Olympia College offers four levels of the programme:
- Basic
- Elementary
- Intermediate
- Advanced

At the end of the 240 hours of coaching, participants of this programme will be able to:-
- Write English without grammatical errors
- Read, write and speak confidently
- Increase their vocabulary by another 1,500 words
- Summarise given passages
- Comprehend difficult passages and answer questions posed

Total Contact Hours - 240 hours
- No. of learning activities per day - 5 hours
- No. of hours per week (4 x 5 days) - 20 hours
- No. of hours per month (20 x 4 weeks) - 80 hours
- No. of hours for 3 months (12 weeks) - 240 hours

- Up to 20 hours of instruction per week

Successful participants will be awarded with the Raffles Certificate in English As a Second Language; providing a pathway for further studies and serve as an entry qualification to any one of the business or professional courses offered by the Olympia Group of colleges and other affiliated universities. |
