Digital Forensics refers to the techniques toward the preservation, collection, identification, analysis, interpretation, documentation and presentation of particular digital evidence. The Digital Forensics field is becoming more popular nowadays as forensic investigators use this science to solve crimes related to digital media and cyber threats.
The Data Recovery Forensics Lab is conducted to expose students to the importance of digital forensics and how it is used to discover evidences in digital media. This lab also teaches students how to recover lost, hidden, deleted and corrupted data by using several data forensics tools available.
Time and Venues
The Data Recovery Forensics Lab was conducted on 17th April 2015 from 10.00am to 12.30pm. The lab was held by Mr. Amin in Computer Lab 1, Olympia College Ipoh.
The announcement of this programme was made and sent through Olympia DIT Group and Olympia Cyber Club Facebook page a week before the actual programme date to get as many participants as possible. All Olympia Cyber Club members joined the forensics lab.
The Data Recovery Forensics Lab was organized for the students with the purpose of exposing digital forensics science and the knowledge to them. Upon the completion of this lab session, students gained knowledge and also skills on how to perform data recovery by using the appropriate techniques and tools available.
